365 Days of Writing: Welcome Post

I've never been a successful blogger.

This might sound silly, considering how badly I dream of being a writer, but it's true; I've started quite a few blogs in my day and none of them have made it past a month before I give up and decide I have better ways to spend my time. It's been a few years now since I've written a blog post, but I feel strongly that this time will be different.

While the blogs I've created before were deleted because of the lack of readers, this time this blog is for myself. I'm doing this to become a better writer; I'm doing this to challenge myself each and every day.

So, the goal is to answer one creative writing prompt a day for an entire year. That's it. Having 365 poems and short stories would be quite a collection. After just one year, I'd practically be right up there with Shakespeare, am I right? (Not even close.)

As for anyone who stumbles on this blog, I urge you to join in with me. Use these prompts to write by yourself in a journal, give it a shot in the comments, or maybe even be inspired to start your own blog. If you'd like to suggest a prompt to me as I begin this journey, feel free to leave one in the comments section on the latest post.

While this blog will entail answering one prompt a day, I will also be using it as a kind-of journal as I embark on a completely new journey--college. That's right; the oh-so-lovely high school days of sprinting through identical white hallways to class and searching for an open seat at lunch have come to a close.

What a tragedy.
